Icelandic Monitor Features LENR Research

Thanks to Giorgio Vassallo on the Cold Fusion, Andrea Rossi and LENR Facebook page for posting about the following.

Icelandic news and information website Icelandic Monitor is reporting about an Icelandic researcher, Sveinn Ólafsson who, along with Swedish chemist Leif Holmild, has had an article in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy titled “Spontaneous ejection of high-energy particles from ultra-dense deuterium.” See here (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0360319915016018).

Ólafsson tells the Icelandic Monitor about his research in which he and Holmild were able to fuse hydrogen isotopes into helium without the use of a laser, which Holmild had used in a 2013 experiment. He says, “”Cold fusion means the fusion of hydrogen isotopes into helium. In the fusion process, energy is released as a kinetic energy of a particle of heat.”

I wanted to read the report, but it cost $35. Is there a place one can read it for free?

  • Bob Greenyer

    Sveinn did a radio interview

and following a request by Ecco, a follower, Sveinbjörn, made a translation for the community – it is here:

I would expect that the laser fusion method per the Leif Holmild reaction should produce nuclear radiation because of the 3 and 14MeV protons it produces. Holmild does not mention this in his paper. The Holmild reaction is much like what Joe Papp produced to drive his pistons. This type of reaction would be ideal for producing pumping power for water desalinization by reverse osmosis that is so important to install in massive numbers to save the huge investment that has been made in California and the other drought affected areas in Californian farms and fields, throughout the western United States, and throughout major regions throughout the dry parts of the world to reclaim them for productive use.

As per the Joe Papp experience, a electric arc explosion might replace the laser in triggering the LENR reaction. I am coming to the opinion that arc initialed LENR reaction is fundamentally different from the Rossi reaction in that the quantum mechanical entanglement processes are trigered by different stimuli. This would make the Holmild reaction more cost competitive with the Rossi reaction when a more simple conversion to mechanical tork that is best suited for driving a high pressure water pump is taken into account.

What is the definition of a ‘paper’? MFMP publush ‘papers’ on daily basis.

    • georgehants

Mats, a worthwhile paper is any honest science published anywhere for others to peruse.

      • Mats002

OK and what is your definition of ‘official scientist’ then?

        • georgehants

Ha, One has to try and differentiate between the non-thinking priest followers that have no right to be in science beyond doing their menial applied science.
The arrogant “opinion experts” that claim their personal god tells them what is certain (GW etc.) and what is not (Cold Fusion, Telepathy etc.)
Those that have been lobotomized by a false and corrupted science education system.
And those few remaining scientists able to think, use logic and only speak the Truth based on known (temporary) Evidence, know that science knows nothing beyond a few uncertain measurements and the rest is opinionated crap.
Know that science is open-minded Research and investigation on any subject and anything else (expert opinion) is mostly unscientific religious hogwash.
I would appreciate it if you could suggest a word I could use to describe the scientist in the first group, I can think of nothing beyond, halfwits, etc. so I just use those that follow the prevailing consensus etc, and say “official”.
          Best

          • Mats002

I agree it will take time for official science to accept LENR, may be they use another name like pentaquark mechanics to stay at the top and ignore their previous mistakes. If they have the loud voice via mainstream media they can say “We found it, the other guys just used our findings for engineering without understanding the underlying mechanics”

              Yep, That sounds about right.

              Rewrite history…

Iceland Wonderful, would anybody like to take a bet that a UK scientist does not publish a paper on Cold Fusion before one from Malawi.
    My bet is on Malawi

    • Bob Greenyer

Malawi has a freshwater lake, and just like lake Mývatn in Iceland, it has a period of the year when so many flies emerge from the water that they form mystical clouds – in this respect the countries have a lot in common. If you want to see ducks – go to Mývatn it has both european and american, if you want to see fish, go to lake Malawi, it has the most species. I prefer swimming in Lake Malawi – with its white sand beaches, but just next to Mývatn you can actually swim IN the mid atlantic ridge – but the water is a bit toasty at 43ºc.

Bob, sounds Wonderful, they certainly need caring tourists.
If you are a Brit you understand above I am referring to the establishment type.
Have changed my wording because I never intend to put down the great individual Rebels.

        • Mats002

You changed your wordings, is that not cheating?

          • georgehants

Mats, I am sorry, but as I have clearly owned up and explained my mistake, I think that is not “cheating” but genuine desire to correct my error.

            • Mats002

              😉

  • Mats002

Iceland already have free industrial heat from geysers, natural hot bath and for about 1000 icelandish kronor you get a Big Mac.

    • Bob Greenyer

The scenery of Iceland is unremittingly stunning – and they are Europe’s top banana produces – but I would stop short of them being referred to as a banana economy since they practically give power away for data centres and smelting Bauxite to make Aluminium – SHT – you listening?

      • Mats002

Talking about SHT – do they have some offer? They should follow Rossi logic and sell and sell their outcome of monoterium gas without risk of being reengineered.

      • Obvious

Last year I made a comment regarding aluminum production. It can be used as long-term storage of energy (and possibly wealth), when excess or otherwise “cheap” (hydro, etc.) power capacity is used to make it. Then the energy stored in aluminum can be released in the future by oxidation (see articles on carbon catalysing Al + H2O to AlO2 and H2 plus heat) , in inflated dollars, so that the cost of production becomes negligible, offsetting the financial and energy losses inherent in the production of aluminum metal. To make this work, approximately 8 to 10 years worth of energy/dollar storage aluminum metal needs to be stockpiled. Should there be some sort of temporary aluminum metal shortage, the financial value can be released, and put towards energy input for aluminum metal production when the economy is slow, and energy is cheaper.
